Lone Peak 2017

2 days.
1 night.
3-hour thunderstorm.
6,200 ft. elevation gain.
14 miles (including the detour when we got super lost)
& 17 million mosquito bites.

BUT WE LOVED IT!

It was possibly the hardest thing I've ever done.
But so worth it for being up there in the mountains with the people I love!

I had a cool experience on day 1 on about mile 5 when we had climbed up to 9500 ft.
I was walking behind the crew (Dad, Ricky, Amber, & Tyler) and I saw everyone with their individual packs that my Dad had packed and brought for us.
The thought came to me: "What if one person had to carry all of the packs by themselves?"
I was imagining how difficult and impossible that would be when another thought came:

Someone has already done it.

Mosiah 14:4-5:
"Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
The Spirit reminded me of the reality of Jesus Christ and His Atonement. He carried everything. Up a mountain. By himself. That sacrifice became very real to me as I struggled beneath the weight of my own pack with tired legs and a weary heart.
Let him take it.
He will carry it all. All he asks is that we follow Him down His path, which is the easiest we could take.
My heart was full as I felt an answer to my prayers, renewed strength, and an increase of love for Him. I am so grateful for all my blessings! Lone Peak was just one example of the incredible people, amazing scenery, & strength that God has given me. He is so good! And here are a ton of pictures to prove it.

Hahaha this last picture was when we were on the last mile or two and I was DONE.

Thanks for the adventure, Lone Peak! We'll be back.
