pomegranates

>>>
Allie opened one up with our little butter knife the other day and spent a good 20 minutes cleaning out all its juicy goodness.

It was one of those sweet sweet study breaks when all is right in the world;
and just like that, I knew.

THIS WEEK WAS A POMEGRANATE.

It was so, so incredibly hard...like opening a pomegranate with a butter knife.

(just roll with it)

I was challenged and stretched beyond any single academic week I've ever experienced;
There was waking up at six am to take a 3-hour Econ final;
seven hour intervals in the library;
over 500 flashcards to the point of nausea;
scores ranging from 98% to 64%;
10 total hours in testing centers;
and constant worrying about that darn GPA.

But despite the moments of mental collapse, it was actually one of the most fulfilling weeks; like sweet tangy pomegranate seeds.

I prayed every morning, every night, and so many times in between; and a beautiful thing happened. I started feeling so much gratitude for absolutely everything in my life.

I got outside every single day to run the temple route and bike at the gym (with netflix of course).
Exercise rejuvenates my soul.

Sure there were times when humanities was the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE and I wanted to tell Michelangelo to go write an essay on his own iconography.

But then I grew to love that little spot in the library.

My favorite thing was taking a second every twenty minutes or so to look at the clouds.
Every time, they were completely different than the last.

My favorite purple pen & I went through over 500 of these babies.

Also: 5th floor is a perfect vantage point to people-watch. (like what? top hat? #finalsweekprobs)

Oh and scouting out attractive guys. #theusual

Either I was delirious or this is actually the best thing I've ever seen on Facebook.

Oh and I seriously have the BEST ward. #114forever

So thus concludes the most painstaking yet fulfilling week of my college experience.
Thanks Allie for buying that pomegranate and persevering to open it.
Oh and thanks for putting up with me for an entire semester.
You are the best and I love you.

BRING IT ON CHRISTMAS BREAK.

manifesto before finals

For the next six days, you can find me in the library.
Or the testing center.
Or having a mental breakdown in the above locations.

But here's to making the most out of a sleep-deprived, info-cramming week:

I hereby commit to enjoy the beautiful things of december, including but not limited to: michael bublé's sexy voice, poinsettia plants, chocolates, views of snowy peaks from the library window, green dresses, and hunting for gifts for my cute family.

We had our ballet showcase banquet at Tucano's and I just about went to heaven.
not pictured: the grilled pineapple that changed my life.
also gourmet meat, because the cannon center just can't whip up that quality.

also: lace green dresses.

and WHAT IS THIS MADNESS. It's seriously warmer right now than it was in october.

But not complaining because I'm obsessed with the wind.

Also: figured out the location/dress/theme/colors&season for my wedding. ^^

Bublé always on point.

six days six days six days.

Happiest December!

weekend snippets

we had a white elephant gift exchange and frosted homeade sugar cookies / studied economics on a train to salt lake city / got lost in the same city and observed some.. interesting.. street folk / watched ballerinas at capitol theatre under crystal chandeliers / caught up with old friends / laughed at skunk/cheetah/baby rabbit (?) fur coats in forever 21 / exited nordstrom accidentally drenched in sample colognes / experienced temple square filled with hundreds of eyes and millions of lights / waited for an hour in jimmy john's with no regrets / almost got trapped in a conference center elevator / laughed endlessly playing 'heads up' on the bus ride back / and had a 4-hour girl talk with seven girls on one bed eating reese's peanut butter cups

life is just too much fun.
